History

WALSMA OIL COMPANY, INC. has been active in the petroleum industry for over 50 years. Founder Bill Walsma started as a teenager working for a gas station in Glendale, Ca. Later in his mid-twenties he purchased a station himself. After years of working the station, Bill packed up his wife and three boys and moved to the Antelope Valley. Bill ran a local Exxon distributorship for over 20 years, building a good enough relationship with his customers that most followed him to the current location, still owned and operated today by the Walsma Family.

While servicing local farmers, industrial plants and construction sites, the Walsma Family has become very knowledgeable regarding the petroleum needs and requirements of their customers who are working in a desert environment. Currently two of Bill's sons, Jay and Jon, have taken over the reins and are managing the day-to-day operations at the Lancaster Plant, which supplies 76 Lubricants and ConocoPhillips products. The Lancaster Plant continues to grow due to the diligence of the family's care and concern for all their existing and potential customers. Bill's work ethic and dedication to customer service was instilled in both his sons, who are equally hard workers that strive to develop and increase productivity and customer satisfaction throughout all aspects of the business.

Bill had a hand in the day-to-day operation of the company up until late in 2008, but spent his extra time restoring antique fuel pumps. Having quite the collection ranging from 1919 to the 1950's, he received frequent requests to use his pumps in commercials or in an advertisement, but felt they were too valuable to risk damage or loss. While actively involved in this journey, Bill had a building created especially for his antique petroleum pieces. The building is named the Preservation of Old Pumps. Or as we like to call it, the P.O.O.P. building. Stop by our office and see the collection.
Sadly, Founder and Owner H.W. (Bill) Walsma passed away in January of 2009. But the legacy he created and left is still in existence at Walsma Oil Company today.
